Cinematography

Opening Scene from Guardian of the Galaxy

The opening scene begins with an establishing shot to show for the place of recording to be introduced that pans in a circular motion to possibly mimic a spaceship travelling towards the planet to show the swooping in. The camera changes to a extreme long shot showing the spaceship landing this doesn't reveal why this person has come and creates slight mystery. Another long shot is taken but from a high angle to show that the person might be in danger visiting this area by making him look weak and small compared to the surroundings. It continues to a close up of the person that has arrived to show who they are but the mystery is still there as the person is covered with a mask but its the only person the camera is focused on which builds a bond that he is the main character. Throughout the camera following the man it is in constant medium shot with swooping pan effects. Another establishing shot is taken in a long shot showing towards what the character is heading to this creates tension as it keeps the viewers waiting what there might be inside. When walking towards the building there is a quick over head shot to suggest how small and weak he is compared to what might be hidden inside. A extreme close up is used to show the walk man starting to play music inside the scene, as the song has continues to play the camera movement changes. The camera moves more freely supposedly matching with the beat of the song creating the effect of happiness and joy. Which seemed to be the opposite of what might happen such as danger with the low angle shots before entering meaning that this up beat song creates slight tension as you know something might happen.
